Privacy Policy

Effective date: 16 August 2026

This policy explains what happens to what you write in SignalKind. The short answer is that it stays on your phone.

About SignalKind

SignalKind is a writing tool. It checks a message before you send it, names the words that are likely to land badly, and offers rewrites in a tone you choose. It also reads messages you have been sent and gives you the plain meaning.

It is not a health app, a mood tracker, or a diary. It does not ask you how you feel and it keeps no record of your wellbeing.

The short version

SignalKind has no account, no sign-up and no server. Nothing you write is uploaded, because there is nowhere for it to be uploaded to. We cannot read your messages, and neither can anyone else.

What you put into the app

You may enter or paste:

All of it stays on your device.

Where it is stored

On your device only, inside the app's own storage and a shared container that lets the SignalKind keyboard, share extension and widgets work.

There is no iCloud sync, no CloudKit, and no developer-owned server. We hold no copy of anything you write. If you delete the app, the data goes with it.

Rewrites and Decode

Rewriting a message and decoding one both run on your device using Apple Intelligence, through Apple's on-device foundation models. Your text is processed in the app's own process and is not sent to Apple, to us, or to anyone else.

Send Check does not use a model at all. It is pattern matching that runs on your phone, which is why it works with no internet connection.

The keyboard

The SignalKind keyboard does not request Full Access. That is the permission which would allow a keyboard to reach the network or read beyond the field you are typing in. Without it, iOS prevents both.

It reads the text in the field you are currently editing so it can check the tone, and it keeps nothing.

Payments and subscriptions

Subscriptions and the one-off purchase are handled entirely by Apple through the App Store. We never see your card details, your billing address, or your Apple Account.

The app asks Apple whether a purchase is active. That answer is stored on your device so the app knows what to unlock.

Analytics, tracking and advertising

There are none. SignalKind contains no analytics, no crash reporting, no advertising identifiers, no tracking pixels and no third-party SDKs of any kind.

We do not know how many messages you check, which features you use, or whether you opened the app today. We have no way of finding out.

Data sharing

We do not sell, rent, trade or share your information, because we do not have it.

Anything you send out of the app, by copying a rewrite or sharing a card, is sent by you, to whoever you choose, using whichever app you choose.

Keeping and deleting your data

Your history, held messages and saved details stay on your device until you remove them. You can delete individual items in the app, clear your history from Settings, or delete the app to remove everything at once.

Because nothing is stored anywhere else, there is no account to close and no deletion request to make.

Security

The strongest protection here is structural rather than procedural: data that never leaves a device cannot be intercepted in transit or exposed in a breach of ours, because there is no transit and no database of ours to breach.

On the device itself, your data is protected by iOS and by whatever passcode, Face ID or Touch ID you have set. SignalKind can also be locked behind Face ID from its own settings.

Children's privacy

SignalKind is rated 4+ and collects nothing from anyone, including children. It is designed for people who write messages, and it holds no personal information about any user of any age.

Not medical or therapeutic advice

SignalKind is a writing tool. It is not therapy, not a mental health service and not a substitute for professional support of any kind.

It is built with ADHD and autistic people in mind, but it makes no assessment of you, offers no diagnosis, and draws no conclusions about you from what you write.

Changes to this policy

If this policy changes, the effective date above changes with it. The current version is always the one shown here and inside the app.
